The application deadline for this fall’s Knoxville Leadership Academy is today. Residents have until 5 pm to turn in their application to the city if they wish to take part in the academy which starts on Tuesday, September 17th. Any interested individuals can find the application on the city’s Facebook page as well as website, or they can stop in and pick one up at City Hall. As of Monday, four spots were still available for this fall’s academy. Knoxville Assistant City Manager Heather Ussery tells KNIA/KRLS News the academy is six weeks long and give residents the opportunity to learn more about city departments as well as some responsibilities of city officials. Ussery says since this is an election year, it’s a great opportunity for people interested in running for city council. The academy is free for all participants.
