The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday. The board held a discussion regarding the City of Pella’s proposed Urban Renewal Plan for the proposed Lely North America Inc. expansion. A public hearing was held regarding the proposed zoning map amendment for property located at 669 Highway 14 in Otley from A-1 Agricultural to C-A Commercial Ag Restricted. The request would allow for an organic vegetable farm and event/ reception venue for Sanctuary Garden Farms, LLP to be constructed. During the public hearing, the adjoining property owners stated certain noise and safety objections to the proposed construction. Supervisor Mark Raymie stated the supervisors would approve the first reading of the new ordinance but suggested the two entities disputing the construction come together before the next reading of the proposed new ordinance.
A public hearing was held regarding a change for a property from highway commercial to family residential to which the board approved the first reading of the new ordinance. The board also approved vacating part of a segment of Jesup Drive due to a bridge that was no longer accessible. The board approved the site plan for the expansion of property located at 1645 Highway 163 in Otley as well as approved authorization for execution by the county engineer of two agreements with the Iowa Department of Transportation for the Living Roadway Trust Fund Grant.
