Marion County Public Safety Night is tonight. The event, which is sponsored by the Marion County Emergency Response Association, KNIA/KRLS and the Knoxville Hy-Vee, will give residents the opportunity to honor first responders who assisted and those who died in the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks, and to meet and thank local first responders. The event will be held from 5 pm to 7pm on the square in downtown Knoxville and will include a free will offering meal courtesy of the Knoxville Hy-Vee grill. This year’s event will feature the KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio on location playing music and making announcements as well as awards that will be handed out to local first responders. Awards include Marion County Firefighter of the Year, Marion County Dispatcher of the Year, Marion County Emergency Medical Services Person of the Year,  Public Works/Engineering Person of the Year, and Marion County Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Of the five awardees, one will be named as the 2019 Marion County Public Safety Person of the Year.
