The 2019 Ruck for Vets event hosted by the Knoxville VFW Post 3519 is tomorrow. The event will be held from 8 am to 4 pm at the post located at 413 Lincoln Street. Registration will be held from 8 am to 8:45 am with opening ceremonies to follow and step-off for the ruck is set for 9:15 am. Participants have the option to carry 40 pounds of gear if they chose, and can walk, run or jog with all proceeds from the event going towards the VFW 3519 Relief Fund. Guest speakers during the event include the State VFW Auxiliary President as well as Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch. The post will be selling 50/50 tickets and will also have a silent auction as well as a beer garden and a free will donation meal. Live entertainment will also be featured and the Iowa vs Iowa State football game will be on the televisions. Registration for the event is $10 per person.
