The Knights of Columbus in Pella are providing a boost to several local organizations helping those with special needs. In total, the Knights will have raised more than $25,000 for the Pella and Pella Christian Special Education Departments, Christian Opportunity Center, the Iowa Special Olympics, and the Pella Kiwanis Wonder Spelen Miracle Playground project. Pella Special Education Teacher Kelsie Sheets also runs the non-profit Launching Arrows, and says both groups have been impacted by the generosity of the Knights and their Campaign for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities. The Knights have announced their annual high school team challenge winners, the Pella Christian Cross Country team, who raised the most throughout the campaign, followed by the Pella Christian football, Pella Boys Soccer, and Pella Lady Dutch Soccer teams. Student athletes helped raise more than $4200 of the donations collected to support people with intellectual disabilities.
