For the first time in 30 years, the Knoxville Football Squad has started a season 4-0, but it was no where near easy. Knoxville found itself down 21-10 with 11 minutes left in the game after Chariton scored a touchdown to go ahead by 11, but never gave up in a come-from-behind 31-21 victory over the Chargers as heard on 95.3 KNIA on Friday night. The Panthers got back in it with 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter on a Keegan Cox four yard score, an electrifying Kieren Nichols 53 yard run and a Carter Bailey three yard run to cap off the scoring. Coach Eric Kellar told KRLS Sports the Panthers stayed in the game by playing good defense and stopping Chariton’s running game. Knoxville held Chariton to 89 yards rushing nearly 100 yards fewer than the Chargers had been averaging. Knoxville was led on the ground by Nichols with 83 yards on 16 carries, he also was 9/14 for 107 yards through the air a touchdown while Keegan Cox caught three balls for 56 yards and a first quarter score. Knoxville is 4-0 for the first time since 1990 and will start district play at rival Pella next Friday.
