Pella Christian and PCM tangled for the 16th straight season on Friday evening, this time at Schipper Stadium in Pella due to work still in progress at the stadium in Monroe. A tale of two halves went the way of the Mustangs 20-19 in a game aired live on 92.1 KRLS.

Pella Christian jumped out to a 13-0 halftime lead, courtesy of a 47-yard touchdown carry by quarterback Dan Jungling. The Eagles would tack on another score to make it 13-0 heading into halftime. PCM could not sustain any sort of momentum, and they had multiple long touchdowns waved off by penalties.

The Mustangs came out of the gate firing on all cylinders in the second half. The opening drive was capped off by a three-yard touchdown run by Sage Burns. A muffed punt gave the Eagles the ball at the PCM 11 yard line in the closing minutes of the third quarter. Dan Jungling connected with Keean Cadwell for a touchdown to put the Eagles up 19-7.

Sage Burns had another rushing touchdown to start the fourth quarter to make it 19-14, and PCM forced a Pella Christian punt on the ensuing drive. The Mustangs got the ball back, and Burns plunged in from one yard out with 59 seconds to play in regulation to put PCM up by one at 20-19. The 2-point conversion failed, and Pella Christian would get one last shot. A penalty wiped away a PCM pick-six, but the Mustangs would recover a fumble with eight seconds left to seal the win. PCM Head Coach Greg Bonnett said that his guys were able to turn things around in the locker room at halftime.

Pella Christian drops to 0-4 on the season, with a road trip to 0-4 Woodward Academy coming up in Week 5. PCM improves to 3-1, and will hit the road next week to take on 2-2 Chariton as district play gets underway across the state.
