The Pella High School Student Council is lending a helping hand in raising awareness of breast cancer in October. The group has partnered for several years with Pella Regional Health Center to organize Paint the Stands Pink night, which this year takes place on Friday, October 11th at Pella High School and October 18th at Pella Christian. Hanna Kendall with the Pella Student Council says the event brings an important level of awareness to students, many of whom have friends or family impacted by breast cancer. At the events, pink fan wear will be handed out to fans by the student council and the Dutch and Eagles cheer squads. This year, the Pella volleyball team will join in the effort, with a pink out game scheduled to wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, October 15th against Grinnell. Pella football fans can order a “Never Give Up” shirt online from Pella Regional by October 1st to have in time for both the football and volleyball games, while Eagles fans have until October 8th. KNIA/KRLS will once again broadcast the Save-a-Life Radiothon from 4 to 6 p.m. at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics on Tuesday, October 15th and Pella Regional on Thursday, October 17th.
