The Pella Cross Country teams performed well after heading east to Kalona Monday after the Norwalk meet was cancelled due to course conditions. The Pella boys placed 1st (40 points) and the girls were 4th (120) at the Hillcrest Academy Invitational. Josiah Wittenberg won the meet on the boys side with a time of 17:34.74, and teammates Tony Schmitz (6th – 17:52.74), Cutler Turner (9th – 17:58.5), Thomas Gaul (11th – 18:04.69), and Mason Johnston (13th – 18:19.25) were close behind. The Lady Dutch were paced by Caroline McMartin in 3rd place (20:14.18), and Tirzah Wittenberg placed 24th (22:14.42) and Ashley Blommers was in 24th (22:19.53). Pella is off until the Little Hawkeye Conference invitational in Norwalk next Monday.
