The Tulip City volleyball teams found different fortunes on the road Tuesday, with Pella Christian defeating Newton 3-1 (25-17, 25-14, 22-25, 25-15) while the Lady Dutch couldn’t muster much in a sweep (12-25, 11-25, 12-25) by No. 11 ranked Dallas Center Grimes.

Pella Christian found balance on offense, with four players topping eight kills, including Molly Bolt with 17, Avey Amelse with 10, Sarah Gritters with 9, and Emma Dunsbergen with 8. Dunsbergen tabbed four blocks and Gritters had three, and the team finished with 12 service aces and just 8 errors in 92 swings.

Pella had no answers for the Fillies, tallying just 17 kills with 18 errors.

The Eagles improve to 13-14 and are off until they head to Oskaloosa Monday; the 12-13 Lady Dutch return home for their annual tournament this Saturday.
