A 4th quarter lead time as not enough as the Simpson Storm football team fell to Wartburg Saturday afternoon 29-15, spoiling the homecoming activities in a game heard live on 94.3 KNIA. The Storm got off to a fast start with a 9-0 lead at the end of the first quarter despite losing the conference leading rusher Joe Meyer on the first play of the game, but Wartburg struck back in the second to take a 14-9 lead into the halftime break. Both defenses dominated the third quarter, before the Storm broke through in the fourth on a Tanner Krueger pass to Reed Worth to take a 15-14 lead after a failed 2-pt conversion. The Knight answered immediately to take a 22-15 lead, then converted a 4th and 9 late in the game that would eventually score another touchdown. Krueger led the way for the Storm with 367 yards through the air and two touchdowns, while Worth had 88 yards receiving plus the touchdown. The Storm fall to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in American Rivers Conference play, and will travel to Coe next week.
