After winning the American Rivers Conference regular season title, the Central men’s soccer team will play their first game of the conference tournament this afternoon. The top-seeded Dutch will host 5-seed Luther. The winner will face either 2-seed Loras or 3-seed Simpson on Saturday. Today’s match kicks off at 1:30 p.m. at A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex.

Three Central student-athletes have earned Athlete of the Week honors from the American Rivers Conference. Junior quarterback Blaine Hawkins was named the Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. He threw for a school-record 421 yards and five touchdowns, and also rushed for 78 yards and a score in Central’s 51-34 win over Simpson.

Senior kicker Jon Alberts was 6-of-6 on PAT’s and connected on a 32-yard field goal in Saturday’s game, earning him Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Senior men’s soccer player Taylor Petkovich was named Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. He played in 62 minutes of Central’s 5-0 shutout of Buena Vista last Tuesday.
