Area veterans will be recognized by students in the Pella Community School District on Monday. Jefferson Intermediate School is hosting their annual program at 10:30 a.m. on Veterans Day, with students singing patriotic songs, reading poetry, and interacting with those who served. At 2:20 p.m., Pella Christian Grade School students will march in formation to the Fair Haven World War II memorial and then visit with veterans after. Central College’s Central RED Society presents “Armistice Day: Remembering World War I” by Mark Barloon, senior lecturer of history. The event is set for 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in the Dave and Ardie Sutphen Common Room in Graham Annex. Dinner is $15 and a cash bar will be available.His area of expertise is American military history, with an emphasis on the Civil War. Those wishing to attend must be members of Central RED, which is a $20 annual fee, and no affiliation with the college is required to join the society.
