Tuesday morning’s low temperature tied a long standing record for cold, as the air cooled to one degree above zero overnight into the early morning hours. The previous one above zero mark was achieved in 1940, according to climate data from the National Weather Service. Daytime highs only topped out near 20 degrees both Monday and Tuesday as well, which approached several records for cold weather. A burst of light snow is possible this evening, with temperatures hovering around freezing during the afternoon until milder weather arrives Friday into the weekend.
