Local legislators will be in Knoxville tomorrow to tour local solar and energy efficiency projects. The legislators, which include state representative Jon Thorup, will tour the solar panel project at the Knoxville Middle School tomorrow at 2:15 pm. Nearly 1,000 Iowans are employed in the solar industry, and “solar installer” is expected to be the fastest-growing job in the U.S. between 2016 and 2026, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. In addition to local legislators, representatives with Red Lion Renewables, Simpleray, Iowa Interfaith Power and Light, IMPACT Community Action Partnership and the Iowa Environmental Council will all be in attendance.
