Knoxville City Councilmember Rick Kingery has announced his resignation from the Knoxville City Council effective November 25th, according to a post from the councilmember’s Facebook page. In the post Kingery states the reason for the resignation as he recently sold his home in Knoxville and will no longer meet the residency requirements to serve on the council.

Kingery says “Despite being on the losing end of many votes, I am proud of the accomplishments that I was able to push through and I hope that I provided greater transparency into our city government. I encourage you all to continue to demand that your voices be heard by your public officials and stay vigilant to what is happening in your community.”

Knoxville City Manager Aaron Adams tells KNIA/KRLS News he thanks Councilmember Kingery for his time on the Knoxville City Council and his willingness to serve the Knoxville community. He wishes him the best as he starts his next chapter in life.
