The Pella Dollars for Scholars organization held an appreciation breakfast Thursday for those who donate to the program and the group’s board of directors. At a luncheon held at Central College, both Pella High Principal Adam Beckel and Pella Christian Principal Dan Van Kooten addressed the crowd about the importance scholarships have on students as they earn their high school diploma and move into the next level of education. Pella High School Class of 2018 Graduate and former Dollars for Scholars Student Liaison Elise Beukelman gave a speech about how the group has impacted her as she’s traveled and stayed abroad, as well as starting college this fall. The Pella Dollars for Scholars Group, founded in 2000, has awarded $1.4 million in 3,500 scholarships to graduating seniors in the community from Pella and Pella Christian. The student application period opens January 1st and continues until February 29th, 2020.
