A former Mr. Iowa Football award-recipient and All-State player at Pella High School is competing in the NCAA Division II Playoffs. Garret Jansen is playing on the undefeated Minnesota State Mavericks, who won the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship and earned a No. 1 seed and a bye in the 2019 postseason. Minnesota State is ranked No. 4 in the country, and Jansen has made an impact during his senior season, racking up six tackles for loss, two sacks, and three forced fumbles in eleven wins so far this year. The Mavericks will open in the second round of the tournament after earning a bye, when they host the winner of CSU-Pueblo and Augustana on Saturday, November 30th in Mankato.
