For the third time in a week and a half, another Knoxville athlete has signed to go play sports at the college level. On Monday, Emma DeJoode decided to play for Central Women’s Soccer next fall. DeJoode led Knoxville in goals scored last year with 30 and was sixth in all of class 1A, leading the Panthers to a 14-4 campaign, their best season in program history. DeJoode told KRLS Sports she never considered playing sports in college, but when she met the Central College coaching staff that all changed.

“I wasn’t really even considering playing in college, we were going for visits and I really liked their academic program and I met the coach and it just kind of fit in and I fell in love with the team.”

DeJoode has a few more goals this coming spring, such as getting the all-time career goals scored record, which she is 20 away from that feat.
