Two area volleyball players were named to honorable mention All-State lists from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association. Knoxville’s Katie Keitges was named honorable mention in class 4A. Keitges led the Panthers in kills with 352, which combined over her four seasons with the Panthers, added up to a school record 972, and also finished her career with 1,065 digs. Keitges tells KNIA Sports the program has come along way from her freshman season when they won just four matches…

Keitges:
“We did have a good season, and definitely wasn’t what we wanted, but it’s come along way since my freshman year where we were 4 and 30 something. It was a lot of work and definitely a fun four years to grow and develop with each other. It’s sad that it’s over now. I hope they have a good season next year.”

Keitges has now turned her attention to basketball. She signed a National Letter of Intent recently to play at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and will continue her senior season Tuesday on the road to Van Meter. In class 5A, Indianola’s Anna Marvelli earned honorable mention. Marvelli led the Indians with 376 kills and kills per set at 3.5. Indianola finished with a 27-18 record.
