The Simpson College women’s basketball team is looking to continue their three game winning streak and start 2-0 in American Rivers Conference play tomorrow, starting the season with a 4-1 overall record all without leading scorer Jenna Taylor. Taylor averaged 16.2 points per game last season and shot 48.2% from the field, but has yet to see the court this season missing games for both personal and injury reasons. Head coach Brian Niemuth tells KNIA Sports getting off to a fast conference start is huge with how much talent there is.

“The American Rivers Conference is going to be one of the top three or four conferences in the nation this year, maybe even higher than that. With the great senior classes that are at each institution, every night we play we are going to play players on the floor that have experience and have been through the battles. I like that we do, but it’s not like we are going to play against a bunch of freshman and sophomores, every team is going to have experience.”

The Storm were picked to finish near the top of the conference, contending with Wartburg and Loras for the top spots.
