The Central basketball teams went a combined 3-0 over the weekend in non-conference action.

The women’s team traveled to Milwaukee for games on Saturday and Sunday against Mount Mary. The Dutch picked up a 71-47 win over the Blue Angels Saturday, followed by a 70-39 victory on Sunday. The Dutch improve to 7-3 overall and have a few weeks off before their next game, which is Monday, December 30th, a home contest against Fontbonne.

The men’s team hosted Bethany Lutheran on Saturday, and moved to .500 on the season with a 90-89 win. The Dutch and Vikings battled back and forth, highlighted by several large scoring runs throughout. Despite numerous lead changes, Central came away with the victory by the slimmest of margins. Up next for the Dutch is a trip to Grinnell on Wednesday evening. That game will air on the KRLS3 stream.

The Central wrestlers were also in Milwaukee over the weekend, competing at the MSOE Invitational. The Dutch placed second in the meet with a team score of 122.5. The highlight of the meet for Central was 133-pounder Shandon Akeo being named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the meet. Central will be back in action Thursday evening, hosting Nebraska Wesleyan in an American Rivers Conference duel.
