The Simpson Storm women’s and men’s basketball squads were swept by Loras in American Rivers Conference play Saturday, with the women falling 85-80 and the men 82-78 in a pair of games heard live on KNIA. The Storm women got off to a fast start, leading 25-19 at the first quarter break, before Loras began to slowly dig into the lead trailing by just two at halftime and the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter was all Duhawks, as they shot 17/19 from the free throw line to salt the game away, and some costly late turnovers doomed the Storm. Loras was 26-36 overall at the line, while Simpson was just 9-15. Cassie Chubb led the way with 22 points, while Cameron Kincaid scored 15 and grabbed 7 rebounds.

The Storm men earned an early first quarter lead against the Duhawks, but after giving it up early in the first would never get back in front despite tying the score several times. Loras built a 13 point halftime advantage, but the Storm slowly built their way back into the game with aggressive drive to the basket. The Storm tied the game four times in the second half, but was unable to grab the lead while Loras hit clutch shots down the stretch. Conor Riordan led the way with 20 points. The Storm women fall to 4-3 and 1-2 in conference play, the men are now 6-4 and 1-2.
