With the nation’s leading three-point shooter from the 2018-19 season out with an injury, the Simpson Storm women’s basketball team is having to adjust some roles in the early portion of the 2019-20 season. Jenna Taylor shot 48.9% from long range last season, leading the Storm in scoring as well with 18ppg, but has missed the early part of this season with a lingering back injury. Having lost scorers Janey Botkins and Rachel Freland to graduation in the offseason, it has fallen on other players to step up on the offensive end in Taylor’s absence. Senior guard Cassie Chubb currently leads the squad in scoring with 14.1, and the Storm overall have five players averaging double figures in scoring with Claire Johnson, Cameron Kincaid, Kia Rasmussen, and freshman Cassie Nash all pitching in until Taylor is healthy. The Storm are currently 4-3 overall, and 1-2 in American Rivers Conference play.
