With a good chunk of the season already in the rearview mirror, the Pella Christian basketball teams find themselves with opposite starts and a lot of games remaining.

Pella Christian’s boys are soaring high, off to a 4-0 start with signature, close wins over Class 3A’s ADM and Pella, and dominating wins over PCM and Grand View Christian. While there’s still a lot of time between now and February, the Eagles boys preseason hopes of state championship glory remain well in tact.

The Eagles girls are still trying to find their footing after a 0-5 beginning against tough competition. Opponents are averaging 33 rebounds per game against Pella Christian, as they are losing that margin by five boards per game. Head Coach Brad Engbers says this week of practice is being spent reinforcing the importance of winning the rebounding battle and how that could help turn the tide on a slow start.

Pella Christian next welcomes Norwalk to Eagle Lane this Friday, with coverage starting at 6 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS.
