The new members of the Pella City Council were sworn in prior to Tuesday’s regular meeting. Mayor-Elect Don DeWaard and councilmembers Liz Sporrer (At-Large), Calvin Bandstra (Ward 2), and Dave Hopkins (Ward 4) all took the Oath of Office ahead of their terms beginning on January 1st. DeWaard says he looks forward to serving with the new group, as well as returning members Lynn Branderhorst, Mark DeJong, and Bruce Scheibout, as they forge ahead with many large scale projects looming as they begin the new year. During Tuesday’s council meeting, outgoing council members Harold Van Stryland and Tony Bokhoven, as well as Mayor Jim Mueller, were given proclamations of thanks for their years of service. Councilmember Larry Peterson was honored at the December 3rd meeting as well.
