According to the National Weather Service, the tornado that struck the southern portion of Warren County southeast of Indianola was one of the strongest to hit Iowa in 2019. The tornado, one of two rated as an F3 in 2019, was part of a storm system producing three tornadoes, and caused considerable damage to the Operators Union training facility south of Indianola among other damage to buildings near Milo and Lacona.
