The Central basketball teams will conclude the first half of the American Rivers Conference slate this evening, hosting Buena Vista in a women’s-men’s doubleheader.

The Dutch women are 2-5 in league play, and will be going for their third consecutive win. Saturday’s win over Nebraska Wesleyan vaulted the Dutch into the top six of the conference standings, putting them in position to earn a spot in the conference tournament. Buena Vista enters with a dismal record of 1-15, with the lone win coming against a team in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). It’s a chance for Central to pick up an elusive, confidence-boosting victory as the second half of the conference season gets set to start.

The Dutch men will try to shake off an eight-game skid, having not won since early December. They’ll face a Beaver team who is off to a surprisingly successful start to their season at 14-2. Buena Vista enters with the league’s highest scoring offense with 89 points per game, while only giving up a league-best 71.6 points per game. Central will try to pull off the upset against a program they’ve gone back-and-forth against over the last several years.

Tonight’s doubleheader will be broadcast on the KRLS3 stream at KNIAKRLS.com, with Jon Mohwinkle broadcasting the action. Pregame coverage begins at 5:15 with the opening tipoff at 5:30 from Kuyper Gymnasium.
