The Pleasantville Trojans traveled up to Earlham last night for a double header of hoops. They split the games with Earlham, the boys winning 77-71 and the girls losing 52-36, as heard on KNIA3 at KNIAKRLS.com. The girls got off to a slow start in the beginning falling behind, but at the start of the second half, the Trojans went on a few runs and made it a 4 point game. Malorie McKinney led the team in points with 12.
Head Coach Jeff Cook says the little mistakes are ultimately what cost them the game.

“You know just little things, like in the first half to start the game we block a shot right to a girl and they score a layup, you know I don’t know how many of those breaks can go against you in a year but it seems like it happens to us a lot, you know we didn’t handle the pressure the first couple possessions well but then we settled down and were able to get it down there you know, and it was disruptive to us going down and getting in our offense but you know we didn’t continue to turn it over like we did the other night against Van Meter so I felt like we did a better job on that.”

The boys game was back and forth all game, but at the end with a 5 point lead Tagen Douma locked in at the free throw line when they continued to foul him to try to tie it up.

The Trojans next game will be on Friday when they travel to Des Moines Christian, who they both lost to in their last match-up.
