The PCM basketball teams return to conference action this evening when they play host to South Hamilton in the third game of a seven game homestand. The doubleheader was originally scheduled for January 10th, but was postponed due to snow and ice across the state.

The Mustang girls will try to build off their success from Tuesday’s win over Saydel. The PCM girls are 5-8 overall, but just snapped a five-game losing streak. South Hamilton has had an up and down season at 5-6, but will counter with a balanced scoring attack. The Mustangs will need to defend well in all areas of the court to try to get the victory.

South Hamilton’s boys team is 7-3, and has controlled the Heart of Iowa Conference for quite some time. Head Coach Fred Lorensen says that his team will have to put together a complete performance in order to beat the Hawks.

“South Hamilton’s got a really nice team, they graduate kids every year and they just keep filling in with new ones. Nobody’s beat them in the conference yet, and somebody needs to, might as well be us. We just need to play well, take care of the ball. They’ve got some good athletes, they’re really quick, they try to bother you, so we need to try to calm ourselves down, slow down a little bit and do a good job against them.”

Tonight’s doubleheader begins at 6:00 p.m. inside the PCM High School gymnasium in Monroe.
