The Central basketball teams traveled to Coe Saturday afternoon for their first conference rematches of the season. Just like when the teams met in Pella three weeks ago, it was the Kohawks coming away with the sweep. The Dutch women had their three-game winning streak snapped as the Kohawks came away with the 71-61 victory. It was a back-and-forth game for the most part, but Coe held Central scoreless for the final 4:33 of the third quarter, resulting in a 13-0 run. The Dutch were unable to mount much of a comeback effort, and fell to Coe for the second time in three weeks.

Kendall Brown led the way with 23 points and Kelsea Hurley added 13. Central drops to 11-7 overall and 3-6 in the American Rivers Conference.

The Central men were outmatched by the size and physicality of the Kohawks, falling 84-69. An early run put Coe on top for good, as the Kohawks led for the entirety of the game. The Dutch fought back, but could not get the deficit below nine. Coe showed poise in by holding off every Central scoring rally. Caden Mauck scored 22 while Adam Flinn added 21, but it was not enough to counter Coe’s five players in double figures. Central falls to 4-14 overall and 1-8 in conference play.

Up next, the Dutch will host Loras Wednesday evening. Pregame coverage begins at 5:15 p.m., with the opening tipoff of the women’s game at 5:30 on KRLS3.
