After two classics to open the conference season in December, the Pella and Pella Christian basketball teams gave a packed house at Eagle Lane two more shows, but it was the green and white taking home a sweep in a doubleheader heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

The Lady Dutch came back to beat the Eagles 44-38, and No. 2 in 3A Pella rode a 49-point second half to charge back against No. 7 in 2A Pella Christian.

Both games played out in similar fashion — with the Van Gorp siblings dominating the first halves of each contest to push Pella Christian to halftime leads. Allison Van Gorp scored 17 of her 24 points and older brother Josh scored 18 of 22 in his return over the first two quarters.

But in each game, the Pella defenses lead to offense, with the Lady Dutch press pushing them to an 18 point 4th quarter and eight forced turnovers by Pella against P.C. fueling their big second half.

In the girls game, Madison Naig led Pella with 15 points and Faith Diers and Jasmine Namminga each posted 10 points.

Logan Shetterly had a breakout performance in the boys game, scoring 32 points, eight assists, and four steals for the Pella boys, with Treyton Sturgeon adding 19 points and eight rebounds and John Oltman scoring 17. Dan Jungling scored 13 points and Jack Vermeer adding 10 for the Eagles.

Pella returns to action Monday at home against Grinnell, while the Eagles are off until a trip to Norwalk Tuesday. Hear the Tigers and Dutch live on 92.1 KRLS, with pregame at 6 p.m.
