A speaker aiming to educate parents across the country on how to deal with defiance and disrespect is coming to Pella to speak this week. Lowell Ernst with Pella Character Counts and the Pella School District says Kirk Martin is returning on Tuesday, January 28th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Pella High School and Wednesday, January 29th from 9 to 11 a.m. at Third Church. Ernst says Martin has been speaking for several years about practical ways for parents of children ages two to 22 years old to help their kids improve focus, grades, impulse control, and social skills, as well as deal with conflicts and power struggles. Martin was last in Pella 15 years ago. The two events will have the same presentation by Martin and his Celebrate Calm program, so residents can attend either event to learn more.
