melcher-dallas-5

The Melcher-Dallas Boys Basketball Squad lost in its first round Bluegrass Conference Tournament game Monday night to Murray 73-50. The Saints were led by Emery Sage with 17 points, Ryan Krpan had 14 and Lane Vanderlinden scored 11 points off the bench. The Saints will now play in a consolation game on Thursday. While the boys dreams of a BGC Tournament title ended last night, the girls still have a goal of winning the championship, but they must first beat Orient-Macksburg in a first round contest. Melcher-Dallas got the third seed in the tournament and will play the sixth seeded Bulldogs. The Saints beat OM earlier this season by 11 points and Coach Kelsey Goff tells KNIA Sports they are just ready to make a tournament run.

Goff:
“Every time we go out I just say let’s keep doing what we’ve been doing. We have those eight wins and are on a three game winning streak. They’re pumped up and excited to see what we can do in the Bluegrass Conference Tournament.”

A win by the Saints would get them a trip to the semi-finals against either second seeded Seymour or seventh seeded Diagonal on Friday night at Moulton-Udell. Game time for the Saints is at 6:00pm, with the game taking place at Seymour.
