Both Knoxville and PCM Wrestling Squads finished high in the team standings at the Southern Iowa Classic in Fairfield on Saturday. The Panthers came in third place with 117.5 points while the Mustangs were right behind in fourth with 112. Fort Madison won with a team score 204.5. Both Knoxville and PCM had first place finishes with the Panthers Gavin Montalvo winning the 170 pound weight class. Also placing high on the podium was Gabe Gordon in second at 126 pounds and Nash Linsley third at 160. PCM had two championships on the day with Peyton Drake at 138 pounds and Jace Smith at 285 pounds. Place winners were Landon Fenton at 132 pounds, Zeb Padget at 170 pounds, and Cooper Sloan at 195 pounds all taking third place. The Panthers have one more meet before Saturday’s sectional as they will host a quad with Pleasantville, Carlisle and Martensdale-St. Mary’s on Tuesday. The Mustangs will wait until Saturday for the class 2A sectional at Carlisle.
