Pella Christian’s basketball teams could not bounce back from a tough Friday night as DCG swept the Eagles Monday, with the boys falling 64-56 and the girls falling 62-49 on Eagle Lane.

The Eagles boys tried to rally several times, but never found a rhytym, according to Head Coach Larry Hessing, who says the team is trying to work out of a funk after Friday’s heartbreaking loss and a lack of practices during a stretch of five games in eight days.

Josh Van Gorp and Keean Cadwell each scored 12 points and 10 each from Dan Jungling and Ryan Vande Haar.

The Eagles girls fought to close strong despite a large deficit, scoring 20 of their 49 points in the fourth quarter. Allison Van Gorp scored 18 points and nabbed 17 rebounds, Chloe Morgan scored 16, and Emma Witzenburg added nine points.

Pella Christian will try to bounce back tonight on the road at Grinnell High School. Coverage of the doubleheader begins at 6 p.m. on KRLS2 at KNIAKRLS.com with Jon Mohwinkle and Jerry Nikkel.
