The Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad’s defense made another stand and defeated Carlisle Monday night 58-53. The story of the night was Maggie Wilkins becoming just the fifth girl in Knoxville High School five-on-five history to enter the 1,000 point club. Wilkins joins teammate Katie Keitges, also former players Sam Abens, Meredith Cunningham, and Kaylee Modlin as the only girls to score at least 1,000 points in their careers. Wilkins scored 28 points to lead Knoxville while Keitges scored 21. Coach Jim Uitermarkt told KRLS Sports the defense played well again limiting Carlisle’s leading scorer Molly Hoekstra to just nine points, which is seven below her average. Knoxville is now 19-1 on the season and will host Fairfield tonight. You can hear that game live on 95.3 KNIA beginning at 7:30pm.
