The Knoxville School Board met in regular session Monday. The board heard from Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Andersen regarding the district’s potential purchase of 25 handheld radios. Andersen spoke on the need for the radios in times of emergency. Following a short discussion the board approved the purchase of 25 handheld two-way radios for the district from Unplugged Wireless Communications for $14,825. The board approved replacing Board President Marty Duffy from the Board Negotiations Committee with Board Member Cheri Gerdes due to a conflict of interest as well as approved an overnight trip request for the State Bowling Tournament in Waterloo to be held in February. They approved an out-of-state trip request for the Science Club to visit museums, an analytical lab, and a National Weather Service Training Center in Kansas City. The board heard from the Director of Teaching & Learning at the district, Allie Emery, as well as approved a professional development proposal for spring and fall of 2020, among other matters.
