indianola-3

More than a week after sweeping Grinnell on the road, the Indianola girls and boys basketball squads host the Tigers on their home court in a doubleheader that has now been moved to Saturday. The Indians girls picked up their biggest win of the season against the Tigers last Friday night in a 64-61 thriller, and head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports the Indians won’t get distracted by the postseason assignments coming out, they are focused on what is in front of them.

“Nothing is more important for us than the game Thursday night. We can’t get sucked into the 5A brackets or things like that. We are tied for the lead in the conference championship, so we need to make sure we are all on the same page and making sure we are ready to go, and we are going to give it a heck of a shot and hopefully with an electric atmosphere here.”

With the Indians and Tigers tied atop the Little Hawkeye Conference and only one game remaining on Friday evening, the winner of this game will have the inside track on a conference title. The boys have won three games in a row by 35-plus points, including a 75-40 win over the Tigers last Friday. The Indians are also looking to keep pace atop the conference, and currently sit a half game back of Norwalk at 10-2. The games Saturday can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 1:45, with tip-off at 2:00.
