Six Knoxville wrestlers and four from PCM will try to punch their tickets to the state meet at Knoxville in the class 2A district. The Panthers qualified six wrestlers out of the Albia Sectional last week including Marco Alejo at 106 pounds, Luke Spaur at 120 pounds, Gabe Gordon at 126 pounds, Hayden Hatch at 132 pounds, Nash Linsley at 160 pounds, and Gavin Montalvo at 170 pounds. Coach Doug Hatch tells KRLS Sports this is a tough district with a lot of rated grapplers to move through.

Hatch:
“I love districts, you know who you have you know who you have in the first round, and its just a great day. It’s a very tough district, with rated guys. Our guys have improved throughout the year and I think our guys can go in there and really complete Saturday.

The Mustangs will send Landon Fenton in the 132 pound weight class along with Payton Drake at 138 pounds, Colby Tool at 152, and Jace Smith at 285 pounds. The top two wrestlers in each weight class will advance to next week’s state meet in Des Moines. Wrestling gets underway from Knoxville High School today at noon.
