Pella Christian leaned heavily on post play to start the 2020 2A girls regional basketball playoffs with a 46-23 win Saturday, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS. Allison Van Gorp was a force to be reckoned with, scoring 29 points and nabbing 25 rebounds in a game the Eagles controlled wire-to-wire. Van Gorp also added three blocked shots and three steals. Head Coach Brad Engbers says less than 24 hours after a tough win over Oskaloosa, he was glad the girls were able to bounce back and take care of business to get to the next round.

“That’s pretty intense, to come out with a 25 rebound game, it’s pretty impressive–I don’t care who you are playing, she was just really going after the ball tonight,” Engbers says.

Pella Christian wins back-to-back games for the first time this season and improves to 4-18 overall, and next travel to Pleasantville on Tuesday. Hear that game live on 92.1 KRLS.
