The State Bowling Qualifying meets are today and the Knoxville boys and girls will head to Great Escape Lanes in Pleasant Hill. The Knoxville Boys have been motivated to get back to the state meet after missing out last season. Coach Shaun Renard tells KRLS Sports the boys have been confident last season…

Renard:
“Listen to the boys as they talk to friends and family around the bowling community, and they are bound and determined they are going to Waterloo. So seeing that determination is just overwhelming.”

The girls also are looking for a spot at state. While the road could be a bit tougher for the ladies Renard tells KRLS Sports they also want to clinch their spot at Waterloo next week. The meet begins at 1:00pm.

Pella heads to Ottumwa for the state qualifying site today at 10 a.m. Head Coach Mike Norman says the district includes several top-tier teams and bowlers, and will be a challenge for both Pella teams.

Norman
“Ottumwa is going to be a tough venue, their program is one of the top programs around. Keokuk is going to be there and Ottumwa and Keokuk were state qualifiers last year. Oskaloosa and Bondurant are als going to be there.”

Pella Christian makes the long trek to Muscatine, with bowling beginning at noon. Head Coach Rod Blunck is hopeful his much improved teams this season will enjoy the process and continue to make strides against solid competition.

Blunk
“I’m looking forward to seeing some schools and bowlers that we usually don’t complete against, and Louisa-Muscatine is going to be pretty tough. As long as we compete well, I’m going to be happy.”

Stay tuned to 92.1 KRLS for updates for any state bowling qualifiers.
