A former Pella Lady Dutch Volleyball standout is trying to earn a spot on the U.S. Women’s National Team. UNI Freshman Emily Holtehraus is heading to Colorado Springs February 21st through 23rd for the chance to join some of the most elite players in the country. The tryout will evaluate athletes from 94 colleges for spots on the U.S. Women’s National Team and the U.S. Collegiate National Team (CNT) program. The breakdown for the tryout includes 69 outside hitters, 47 liberos, 37 middles, 37 setters and 24 opposites. Holterhaus racked up 197 kills and a .196 hitting percentage in her freshman season at UNI, as the former Lady Dutch star was a four-time All-State player in high school.
