Congressman Dave Loebsack made a stop in Knoxville Monday and met with Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt. The two discussed several topics during the meeting but Sheriff Jason Sandholdt tells KNIA/KRLS News the two topics he made sure to stress to Congressman Loebsack were the mental health crisis and the drug abuse epidemic. Sandholdt says he would like to see some more help in the fight. Congressman Loebsack says the mental health crisis and drug abuse epidemic two topics tied together. He says from a federal position he will continue to try to bring more funding to the local level to help the people making decisions on the local level help fight against the problem that he believes need to be dealt with at the same time. The two met at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office as Congressman Loebsack was making stops throughout his district including stops in Newton and Ottumwa.
