The Indianola City Council held a work session on the budget Tuesday evening, receiving a presentation on the early proposed budget from Director of Finance Andy Lent. Lent tells KNIA News the city hired two additional police officers and another clerk along with three new firefighters, and the 2021 budget plans to see another increase in staff.

“In FY21, we plan to add two new police officers, who will also need two new vehicles and equipment for the department. We also plan to add an additional librarian and part-time librarian assistant in the budget.”

Lent also said the best way for people to get involved in the budget process is to attend the upcoming meetings, which will include a property tax hearing and the budget public hearing.
