The PCM boys basketball team saw their season come to a close Thursday evening in Urbandale, falling to Des Moines Christian 75-43, as aired live on 92.1 KRLS. After the teams traded buckets for the first several minutes, the Lions started finding their groove, and jumped out to an 18-6 lead after one. The Mustangs were able to piece together a 9-0 run midway through the second quarter, only to be answered by a 7-0 run from Des Moines Christian to take control of the game back. A 48-21 halftime lead for the Lions continued to swell throughout the third quarter, and the 35-point rule took effect for the final 10 minutes. Head Coach Fred Lorensen says it was the turnovers that cost his team early on.

“Too many turnovers. They really hurt us on the boards. When they did miss shots, they were getting offensive rebounds and putting them back in, they were really quick to the ball. Not really big physical kids, but they were really quick and strong. They just did a nice job against us, have to give them a lot of credit.”

Jason Stafford led the Mustangs with 13 points in his final game in a Mustang uniform. PCM’s season comes to a close with a 12-11 record.
