Indianola Girls Basketball Falls in Regional Semifinal

Offense was too hard to manufacture against a stout Ankeny Centennial defense Saturday evening in the regional semifinal for the Indianola girls basketball team, as they fell 60-30 to the Jaguars heard live on 94.3 KNIA. The Indians kept the game close in the first quarter, hitting three triples but trailed 15-9, but only scored five second quarter points and trailed 25-14 at the halftime break. The Jaguars took over in the third however, outscoring the Indians 22-6 to put the game away. Indians head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports despite the double digit deficit, his squad never quit, and that is the mentality of a winning team.

“That shows the girls maturity, and shows their heart. They have poured it out so much, and I have asked for so much out of them especially in my second year here, and I am just so proud of our heart, and of our effort.”

The Indians end their season with a 16-7 record and a Little Hawkeye Conference championship, and only graduate one senior in Bailey Blake.
