When or if spring sports makes a return to the Iowa high school landscape, what will it look like? Twin Cedars Athletic Director Trent Verwers tells KRLS Sports that is something the Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union will have to answer. Verwers says regardless if fans are allowed to attend the meets or not, he hopes there will be a spring sports season eventually.

Verwers:
“That’s kind of the stuff the Association has to answer, and they’re in a tough spot, too they don’t want to take a chance and this be more contagious than what it is. I know Iowa is not a hotspot now. I know it’s tough and we’re just going to play it by ear and hope we can get some track meets in.”

Already four events on the Sabers’ track and field schedule has been cancelled with more to follow. If the shutdown is lifted on April 13th and teams are given two weeks to get ready for a shortened season, the Sabers would not be able to get a meet in until the end of April.
