Counterfeit money has been circulating in the Knoxville area, according to the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce. The chamber says they were notified by the Knoxville Police Department regarding the counterfeit money. Local businesses have received fraudulent $20 bills.The bills passed feel real but have matching serial numbers consisting of JE29271240E, JF63696256A(3) & MF14249123J. If someone tries to pass a bill believed to be counterfeit, residents are asked to call the Knoxville Police Department at 641-828-0554 and request an officer respond to your location.
