A Pella High School senior joins a great legacy of athletes who have competed in Iowa’s biggest showcase of football players. Mason Huerter has accepted an invitation and will compete at the 48th annual Shrine Bowl, which features some of the state’s best soon-to-be college freshman competing in a North vs. South exhibition. Pella Head Coach Jay McKinstrey says Heurter joins some of the best Dutch players of All-Time in taking part in the event.

In addition to competition, the seniors chosen for the Iowa Shrine Bowl help raise money for the The Shriners Hospitals for Children. Huerter joins several recent Pella standouts who made appearances in the showcase, including Ryan Gustafson (2019), Lucas Warner (2018), Nick Finney (2017), Noah Clayberg (2016), and Nathan Clayberg (2014).

The 2020 Iowa Shrine Bowl will be held on Saturday, July 18th at 4:00 p.m. at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.
